AFP is taking a field trip to Alabama A&M University for our August Luncheon!

Our August Luncheon and Presentation will be hosted at Alabama A&M University, an AFP Member! They are also offering a tour of the campus after the luncheon.

The presentation will be by Ted Sudol about Surviving - and Thriving - as a Solo Practitioner in the Increasingly Complex World of Philanthropy.
The focus of the session:  Providing tips and insights for professionals who are running one-person (or small) shops, trying to create comprehensive, full-service development operations with what amounts to sometimes the most minimal of human and financial resources.  Can it be done?  Yes, it just takes a healthy dose of imagination, creativity, and resilience.  With 40+ years in philanthropy and fundraising, the speaker will share ideas and solutions that work, drawing on personal and client experiences.  This challenge becomes especially pronounced when the need to plan for a major fundraising campaign arises.  In addition:  There are ethical issues that are arising today in the context of something we take for granted - wealth screening of prospective donors.  This session will address this evolving issue to provide an appropriate allocation of time for an ethics component as well.  All in all, it's a session that even those in larger shops will find something interesting and informative - so, there'll be takeaways for all who attend.

Ted is the Managing Direct at Carter, Advancing Philanthropy Worldwide. He may be reached at tsudol@carter.global or www.carter.global
