The Hunkeler family has been making an impact on Kansas City through their philanthropy for more than 100 years collectively. Mary and John and daughter Amy have supported everything from the arts, to education, animals, and healthcare. Their impact has been deep as well as broad. Service, leadership, and giving are essential elements of their lives.
A wide array of Kansas City nonprofits has been vastly impacted by the support and service of Mary, John, and Amy. From serving on the boards of these organizations to giving of their time, talents, and treasures, the members of the Hunkeler family have furthered the efforts of Kansas City Ballet, Wayside Waifs, KU Endowment, Truman Library, Junior League of Kansas City, American Royal, Children’s Mercy Hospital, Morris Animal Foundation, Village Presbyterian Church, Freedoms Frontier, AbilityKC, Command and General Staff College (CGSOC) Foundation, and Heart of America Council of the Boy Scouts.
For each of their philanthropic efforts, the Hunkelers bring their intellect, drive, passion, and leadership to help organizations progress in excellence. They support campaigns themselves, as well as encourage others to support through their example of servitude. This leadership inspires others to create change not only for charities, but also broadly for the Kansas City community.
