Polarity Thinking: Finding the balance in Everything with Brian Lassiter, President/CEO of Alliance for Performance Excellence, President/CEO of Performance Excellence Network
In today's complex world, organizations are faced with a growing number of challenges. But customers and enterprises still require performance. In our discussion on March 10, Brian Lassiter (outgoing CEO of the Performance Excellence Network) and Amy Czechowicz (incoming CEO) will explore a systems view (based on the validated Baldrige Framework) of how organizations work and can be managed and improved. They will also introduce a tool called Polarity Thinking, which can be used to navigate complexity, sort out choices, and make better decisions in a complicated world. Life is about paradoxes: sickness versus health; richer versus poorer; hot versus cold; better versus worse; happy versus sad. The same is true in our organizations: success versus failure; growth versus contraction; centralization versus decentralization; efficiency versus innovation. The truth, of course, is that these poles are not binary -- they’re all on a continuum, and the issues surrounding the paradoxes need to be understood, weighed, and balanced to create harmony.
