Your Voice Matters: AFP NS IDEA Survey Results & Next Steps
Thank you to everyone who participated in our recent IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility) Survey. Approximately 1/3 of members responded as well as several non-members. Your feedback is invaluable in shaping how we foster a sense of belonging and engagement within AFP NS. We hear you, and we’re taking action!
What You Told Us:
- Accessibility is a priority. You want clearer communication on accessibility efforts, better integration into programming, and increased promotion of these initiatives.
- Stronger communication & engagement. While 77% feel their voices are valued, many prefer concise, real-time digital updates and more networking opportunities.
- Diversity is growing, but gaps remain. We recognize opportunities to engage more racialized individuals and those with disabilities to ensure broader representation.
- Education remains a top priority. 86% support more IDEA education.
- Respect & authenticity are strengths. 98% feel respected in their AFP NS interactions, yet some highlighted challenges around decision-making dynamics.
What We’re Doing Next:
- Enhancing accessibility. We will enhance accessibility to ensure programs, events and communication are as inclusive as possible.
- Improving communication. Expect more streamlined digital updates and expanded feedback channels to keep you informed and engaged, using platforms that align with our values.
- Expanding educational opportunities. Educational offerings will be current, relevant, IDEA-informed and of the highest quality. Based on your input from the Education Survey we will offer at least four sessions this year including a course in Fundraising Fundamentals in September pre-Maritime Fundraising Conference.
- Fostering collaborative decision-making. We’re exploring ways to ensure diverse voices are included in key decisions to build a more inclusive and innovative AFP NS. Expect more member stories featured in our newsletter and requests for feedback at programs, events and through our communication channels.
We appreciate your insights and commitment to making AFP NS a leader in IDEA principles within the philanthropic sector. Your input is driving real change, and we look forward to continuing this journey together.
Thank you for being a part of this vibrant and inclusive community!
