The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) represents more than 30,000 members in 230+ chapters throughout the world. The association fosters development and growth of fundraising professionals – promoting high ethical standards in fundraising and working to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education, and certification programs. The Nova Scotia Chapter is a volunteer-run organization dedicated to advocacy, education and upholding ethical standards on behalf of the membership and the philanthropic community of the Maritimes. With a membership of more than 125 fundraising professionals, volunteers, students and allied professionals, AFP Nova Scotia aspires to further educate, inspire and AFP members are better able to serve their profession and the public. We  would like to acknowledge that we are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship” which Mi’kmaq Wəlastəkwiyik (Maliseet), and Passamaquoddy Peoples first signed with the British Crown in 1726. The treaties did not deal with surrender of lands and resources but in fact recognized Mi’kmaq and Wəlastəkwiyik (Maliseet) title and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations.
