Role Overview
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Fund Development Lead is a key member of our Leadership Team. This role supports and advances BGC Preston’s new strategic growth plan, with a focus on strengthening long-term sustainability and expanding out impact. You will build and nurture relationships with donors, government agencies, and funding partners to support our mission and strategic goals. You’ll lead fundraising initiatives, manage a diverse donor portfolio, and help secure sustainable funding aligned with Boys & Girls Club of Canada and Opportunities of Social Development, Child and Family Well-being standards and guidelines and practice framework, which defines the vision, values, guiding principles, and standards for practice required to achieve the best outcomes for children, youth, and families.

Typical Workday
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow a diverse donor portfolio across foundations, corporate partners, and individual supporters.
- Guide donors through the giving journey—from first-time gifts to multi-year pledges
- Lead fundraising campaigns and secure major gifts
- Develop and implement donor stewardship strategies
- Network strategically to identify new supporters
- Write compelling funding proposals
- Create donor communications and engagement materials
- Contribute to annual fundraising plans
Working Environment
Regular Activities
- Hybrid- remote and in office work
- Travel- periodic travel is required, primarily in Nova Scotia which includes in -person meetings with donors, funders and community partners, as well as attendance at fundraising events and community functions.
- Non-Traditional Business Hours- occasional evenings and weekends will be required for fundraising events, community meetings and special donor engagements.

- Working in and for the historical community of Preston Township.

Requirements
What's Most Important
Qualifications & Experience
- Post-secondary education and minimum 3 years of fundraising experience
- Proven success in donor engagement and relationship management
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Collaborative team player with a proactive mindset and strategically adept
- Knowledge of CRA fundraising regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and fundraising software
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel
- Must reside in Nova Scotia

- Experience in complex organizational environments

Benefits and Retention
Compensation
- Annual salary: $60,000-$65,000
- Comprehensive benefits package including, health coverage, and paid vacation

The Boys and Girls Club of Preston (BGC Preston) is a community-based, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the healthy development of children and youth in the Preston area. We provide safe, inclusive, and engaging programs that help young people build confidence, develop life skills, and reach their full potential.
As an African Nova Scotian serving organization, BGC Preston is deeply rooted in the community we serve. Our History
The Boys and Girls Club of Preston was established to respond to the need for accessible, affordable, and community-driven programming for children and youth in the Preston area. From the beginning, the Club has focused on creating a safe space where young people, particularly those from African Nova Scotian and low-income families can learn, grow, and thrive.
Over time, BGC Preston has expanded its programming to address emerging community needs, including food insecurity, mental health, leadership development, and workforce readiness. Guided by a dedicated Board of Directors and supported by passionate staff, volunteers, and community partners, the Club continues to grow while staying true to its mission.
