We, the Board of AFP CNY, value inclusion, diversity, access and equity. We recognize that we still have important work to do in this area as an organization and promise to add other voices to our own. We strongly condemn the racist attacks on people of color that have recently come to light. In particular, the murder of George Floyd and the horrific video of his death which has moved the nation and the world to call for change.
We support the peaceful protests that are demanding change and condemn all violence whether it be by police or civilians. We understand that there is systemic racism in our country and hope that this tragic murder can be a catalyst for change.
We are in this together. When one of us suffers, we all bear the pain. When one of us is silent, we share the guilt.
Together, we can make things better. Each one of us must do our part. May this finally open our eyes that we can no longer deny what we see. May it open our mouths that our silence will no longer allow it to continue. And may we use our voices and our votes to demand the change that is long overdue.
