The Association of Fund Raising Professionals of Central New York condemns, in the strongest terms, the recent killings and growing violence against Asian Americans. The brutal mass murder of our fellow citizens in Atlanta is unfortunately just one event in a long line of discrimination, demonization and violence against Asian Americans.
We join with others in our grief for the families of the victims, in our guilt for allowing this to happen and in our resolve to bring about change and increase our understanding that these incidents are not just a single tragedy. Racism, bigotry and hate is something many have to live with on a daily basis and we encourage each of us to do our part in bringing that to an end.
We pledge to confront the system that favors one group over another, even when we are part of that favored group. We will educate ourselves and our neighbors to recognize the racism we witness and participate in. We pledge to do our part in creating an inclusive, diverse, equitable, accessible and just society.
