Why did you join AFP?

As a fundraising professional for over twenty years, joining AFP was a “no brainer.” The opportunity to network with peers who share a passion for impact-driven work has been invaluable. During the last AFP conference in Seattle Washington, it was nice to meet and be with colleagues from the Oklahoma Chapter. Our ideas are freely exchanged, sparking creativity and staying ahead of the curve in a constantly evolving field. When I am feeling burnout, AFP reminds me of purpose and gives momentum to my work.

How did you find your way into fundraising?

I found my way into fundraising thanks to Dr. Kay Holt, who gave me the opportunity to learn and grow at Canterbury Choral Society after I took the Nonprofit Leadership class at Oklahoma City University. That experience sparked my passion for development work and laid the foundation for the career I have today.

The one and only time I asked for less and they tripled the amount on the spot. It has never happened again!

What is special about the people who give to your organization and/or the people with whom you work?

I have been fortunate to work with many Catholics in Oklahoma who are consistently generous, inspired by the Corporal Works of Mercy that call us to care for the most vulnerable. Giving is not just a financial act—it’s a reflection of our faith. This spirit of compassion drives a legacy of giving.

Where do you most like (or want!) to travel?

I'm about to embark on a meaningful pilgrimage to Guatemala and Mexico City to follow in the footsteps of Blessed Stanley Rother. This journey is both spiritual and personal, as I hope to deepen my understanding of his life, mission, and legacy among the people he served. It’s a chance to reflect, connect, and be inspired by his profound faith and courage.
