Purpose
The purpose of the AFP Saskatoon Chapter Bursary is to promote and enhance the professional development of fundraising professionals in our area by helping offset costs associated with attending AFP courses, including CFRE and Fundamentals of Fundraising training, conferences, and workshops. Bursaries may also be awarded for certification opportunities including the CFRE exam.
While preference will be given to AFP-sponsored events and conferences, consideration will also be given to non-AFP sponsored events and conferences provided the applicant offers a rationale of the benefit to their professional development in fundraising.
Amount
The AFP Saskatoon Chapter Bursary will provide up to $1,500 towards the cost of registration or certification fees and travel expenses.
Eligibility Requirements
- Membership Status: The applicant must be a current member of the AFP Saskatoon Chapter.
- Professional Role: The applicant must be employed as a fundraising professional or in a role that requires at least 50% of their time to be spend on fundraising activities.
- Commitment to Sharing Experience: The applicant agrees to provide a written testimonial about their experience within 30 days after the conclusion of the event.
Selection Criteria
- Professional Development Goals: The applicant must demonstrate how receiving the bursary will benefit their professional development and contribute to their role in fundraising.
- Event Preference: Preference will be given to applicants attending AFP-sponsored events and conferences. However, consideration will also be given to non-AFP sponsored events if the applicant provides a rationale for the benefit to their professional development.
- Involvement with AFP Saskatoon: The applicant should describe their involvement with AFP Saskatoon over the past year, such as participation in the Annual General Meeting, service on committees, or attendance at conferences and events.
- Financial Need: The applicant should indicate if they have limited access to other sources of funding for professional development.
- Application Completeness: Only fully completed applications will be considered.
- Previous Awards: Preference may be given to applicants who have not previously received a bursary from the AFP Saskatoon Chapter.
