What is the most exciting thing about the work you do at your current organization?
I love fundraising for my alma mater! There is something truly special about connecting with fellow alumni and sharing in the experiences that shaped them at OU and hearing how the university impacted their lives. It is a joy to serve as a bridge—helping long-time supporters give back to the areas they care about most and guiding new donors as they discover meaningful ways to support students and programs. Early in my career, I was fundraising for a local hospital system primarily for the transplant teams. One day, I was feeling particularly burnt out when I received a phone call from a gentleman who profusely apologized for the size of this gift. I thanked him for his gift and asked what inspired him to give. He proceeded to tell me about his son, a vibrant, funny, athletic teenager who became ill and needed a heart transplant. Unfortunately, his son was not able to receive this lifesaving transplant in time, and this gift was to honor both his son's legacy and the hospital caregivers who celebrated with them and grieved with them after the loss. He considered this group of caregivers family, and said this gift will never be large enough to honor the care and compassion they provided his son and family. Hearing that story helped me refocus and humanize my work. I was providing families, like this one, opportunities to connect to something personal through giving, and that became my main driver/focus versus stressing about dollar goals, making my work more meaningful and motivating to me.
How do you spend your free time when you’re not working?
When I am not working, you will most likely catch me doing something for the Junior League of Oklahoma City! I have been part of this organization for 10 years now, and I have the pleasure of currently serving on the board. However, the past three months, I have spent most my time cuddling and playing with my new baby girl.

I am a new mom! My husband and I welcomed our sweet baby girl in May, and it has been a wonderful and exhausting whirlwind.
