Working Together for the Common Good!

May 20, 2021 – No act of kindness should go unnoticed. Throughout this unprecedented year, it has been more important than ever to recognize community and the impact people make for the greater good.

Philanthropy comes in many forms, shapes, and sizes including sharing of time, talent, or treasure. In our digital world these pillars of support remain consistent but may take on new meaning as charities do what we do best – adapt. Nationalday.com shares 3 important messages to remember about Philanthropy:

  • Philanthropy makes the world go round

For as long as humankind exists, there is always going to be a need to help each other. National Philanthropy Day acknowledges the importance of stepping up and doing your part. Not only to help those less fortunate, but to ensure that the world as a whole is a better place to live.

  • It's important to acknowledge good deeds

When we highlight the charitable acts of someone else, there is a good chance that another person may get inspired to go out in the community and contribute in their own way. Acknowledging people for their support not only gives credit where credit is due, but it is also an excellent way to bring awareness to charitable opportunities.

  • It's inspiring

With so much negativity in the world, celebrating the good is certainly refreshing. National Philanthropy Day motivates us to get out and engage with others in order to make a positive impact.

National Philanthropy Day became official in 1986 and in our fine province, we celebrate through the Manitoba Philanthropy Awards!

Who couldn’t use a boost as a giver or receiver this year?  We will celebrate the continued compassion, generosity, and outpouring of kindnesses in our province.  We don’t know what form it will come in yet but that’s OK! We’ll pivot until we don’t have to. We do so willingly with altruism at heart. The celebration will go on.

Who can you lift up?  We encourage you to take the time to dedicate to another by submitting a nomination to honour an individual, a philanthropic group, a foundation, a corporation, or a volunteer, today!

Nominations have been extended to May 31st and the form can be found here:  2021 Manitoba Philanthropy Awards Nomination Form

Feel the love! Spread the joy!
