Nicole "Nikki" Ward, Founder and President of the African American Women Trucking Association (AAWTA)
Nicole "Nikki" Ward is the Founder and President of the African American Women Trucking Association (AAWTA), the first nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing African American women and women of color in the trucking, logistics, and transportation industries through workforce development, education, entrepreneurship, and advocacy. A nationally recognized industry leader, Nicole previously served on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's (FMCSA) Women of Trucking Advisory Board (2022–2024), where she was elected Chair of the Subcommittee, helping shape national recommendations to support women nationally across the transportation sector. In 2025, she was appointed to the DeKalb County Manufacturing & Distribution Advisory Board, supporting regional workforce and economic development initiatives. Nicole is also an accomplished speaker, media personality, philanthropist and thought leader. Nicole is BET Talent and featured on one of BET's reality series, was recognized as one of BET's "Black & Iconic" Top 20 Honorees (2024), and appeared on The Portia Show (FOX, February 2025). Nicole is a sought-after keynote speaker and panelist, with recent engagements including Women in Trucking Accelerate (Dallas), C.H. Robinson's Black History Month Keynote, Women in Leadership Trucking Panels at MidAmerica Trucking Show (Louisville), Commercial Vehicle Business Summit by Convoy, and Home Delivery World, where she has shared insights on leadership, workforce innovation, technology, and building high-performing transportation networks. Through AAWTA, Nicole continues to champion opportunities that strengthen the trucking and supply chain workforce while empowering the next generation of transportation professionals and leaders in the NGO space.
