  • AFP Mid-Hudson Valley & AFP Westchester County Announce Merger

    June 15, 2022

The Association of Fundraising Professionals Westchester Chapter and the Association of Fundraising Professionals Mid-Hudson Valley Chapter have recently announced their intention to merge. After much thought and careful consideration, a decision was made to merge and form a single chapter to better serve the needs of its members. “The AFP Westchester board continually looks at ways to best serve our members,” says Jeramie Barber, AFP Westchester President. “This includes identifying opportunities for greater efficiency in chapter management, more robust educational programming, and economic savings. With that in mind, I’m excited to share that we will be merging with AFP Mid-Hudson Valley. AFP Mid-Hudson Valley has a talented and dedicated membership that aligns perfectly with our own. Merging the chapters will allow us to better serve the needs of members from both chapters with the promise of delivering expanded services and opportunities for all.”

On behalf of the Board of AFP-Mid Hudson Valley, along with our membership, we are very excited to announce this partnership with the Westchester Chapter of AFP,” says President of AFP-MHV, Sarah Kimball. “The Westchester County Chapter brings to our chapter a diverse group of seasoned professionals and leaders committed to the mission of advancing philanthropy. I look forward to seeing our organizations join together to offer more networking, education, mentorship, and more to fundraising professionals across the greater Hudson Valley.”

The Westchester Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals was formed in 2010 to serve Westchester County while the Mid-Hudson Valley Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals was formed in 2006 to serve six counties in the Mid-Hudson Valley region. Recent data has shown that an increased number of fundraising professionals are either working remotely or exploring career changes. These findings have helped support the decision to merge and form a single chapter to serve all members regardless of their location with more parity. The merging of these two chapters will allow for greater efficiency in management, more robust educational programming, and economic savings. The merger is planned to be completed by the end of 2022, and a joint task force comprised of members from both chapters will be formed to decide a name for the new chapter.
