Stony Brook University Advancement staff connect and build relationships with alumni, friends, foundations and corporations to raise funds for Stony Brook University, Stony Brook Medicine, the Long Island State Veterans Home and related funding priorities that advance the university’s mission.

Responsibilities:

The Director of Development, Stony Brook Children’s Hospital will play a key role in the fundraising efforts for Stony Brook Children’s Hospital. Working closely with Advancement and Medicine leadership they will design a comprehensive fundraising plan and strategy for selected areas. The Director of Development will meet with key prospects and individual donors, cultivate relationships with them, solicit them for gifts, and manage all fundraising activities. While subject to change based on an individual development officer’s portfolio, the Director of Development will be required to meet clearly defined metrics annually.
 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising program. Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and/or steward prospects capable of making major ($100,000+) gifts.
  • Steward existing donors appropriately to encourage long-term relationships.
  • Achieve specific and measurable goals for contacts, effective portfolio management, proposals presented, and dollars raised.
  • Serve as a member of the Stony Brook Advancement team, coordinating efforts with the broader work of University Advancement, participating as a professional and team member in various Advancement tasks and functions, and communicating clearly and consistently with colleagues about goals, progress, and activities.
  • Engage volunteers to utilize them in the cultivation and solicitation of donors.
  • Projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
  • Attend appropriate alumni, Medicine, School, and University events that present opportunities to advance prospect or donor relationships.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
  • Four (4) years of full-time fundraising, sales, and/or related experience.

Seatuck is seeking a Development Manager to support the implementation of our comprehensive fundraising strategy. The Manager role focuses on relationship building with donors, corporate contacts and event supporters that results in increased revenue and organizational growth. The Manager will work to meet fundraising goals through collaboration, cultivation, inspiration, and engagement. This individual will be a high-impact, high-energy, team player who is an excellent communicator, both verbally and written.   

Responsibilities:

Fundraising event and campaign support - 60%

Assist in and support the Development Director in overall fundraising operations including:

  • Planning and execution of fundraising events, donor outings and appeals.
  • Identify opportunities to diversify revenue streams & support strategic growth.
  • Acquire, cultivate, and solicit donors, including face to face interactions.
  • Gather and analyze donor data for maximum engagement.
  • Assist in maintaining the accuracy of tracking systems and database entries.
  • Work with Marketing & Communications Manager to ensure all external communication is "on brand”.  

Corporate giving – 30%

Serve as lead relationship manager for a portfolio of corporations/businesses with a focus on:

  • Retention and recruitment for Conservation Partners program.
  • Plan, execute and oversee all aspects of engaging networking event(s) that will inspire and engage corporate donors and their employees.
  • Work with conservation staff to create, organize and manage volunteer opportunities.

Grant Management - 10%

Assist in and support the Grant Director on:

  • Grant reimbursement invoicing and tracking.
  • Researching potential funding opportunities and maintaining upcoming grant deadlines.
  • Writing and submitting grant proposals to foundations that demonstrate a compelling need for financial support.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor solicitation, relationship management, grant management and/or a related field with a clear record of achievement in a mission-driven organization.
  • Strong skills in the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and on-going stewardship of donors and supporters.

Hofstra University seeks a dynamic and results-oriented Director of Development to advance the University's philanthropic priorities through the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects and donors. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Development, the Director of Development serves as a key member of the Development and Alumni Affairs team and is responsible for building a portfolio of alumni, parents, and friends capable of making significant philanthropic investments in support of Hofstra University's mission and strategic goals.

The Director of Development will work across academic and administrative units to build meaningful relationships with donors and prospects, while also serving as the primary development liaison to an assigned College, School, or strategic priority. CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Major Gift Fundraising

  • Actively manage a portfolio of approximately 75–100 constituents, with a focus on securing gifts of $100,000 and above.
  • Develop and implement individualized strategies to maximize philanthropic support and ensure timely stewardship and recognition of donors.
  • Conduct a minimum of 120 substantive prospect visits and meaningful donor engagements annually.
  • Prepare and present compelling funding opportunities, aligned with donor interests and University priorities, through gift proposals and white papers.

  • Communications & Marketing: Manage social media, create graphics in Canva, and produce bi-weekly email newsletters via Constant Contact while ensuring consistent branding and messaging. 
  • Donor Management: Maintain accurate donor records in DonorPerfect, process gifts, generate acknowledgments, and support donor stewardship and reporting. 
  • Events: Plan and execute major fundraising events (Golf Outing, Christmas Luncheon, Gala), including logistics, vendor coordination, budgeting, seating, registration, and on-site support. \\
  • Website & Digital Content: Update website pages, event information, and donor recognition content. 
  • Direct Mail: Coordinate mailings, manage lists, and work with vendors on printed materials such as invitations and brochures.
  • Technical Skills: Constant Contact, DonorPerfect, Canva, social media platforms, basic website management, Microsoft Office/Google Workspace. 

Qualifications:

 A strong candidate would bring a blend of fundraising, communications, and event management experience.

Relevant experience:

  • Some experience in nonprofit development, advancement, fundraising, or donor relations
  • Experience working with donors, alumni relations, or membership-based organizations
  • Hands-on involvement in fundraising campaigns or annual appeals
  • Event management

Communications & marketing background:

  • Experience managing social media accounts for an organization or brand
  • Basic graphic design skills (e.g., Canva or similar tools)
  • Experience writing newsletters, email campaigns, or donor communications

Database & administrative skills:

  • Familiarity with donor databases or CRM systems (such as DonorPerfect, Salesforce, or Raiser’s Edge)
  • Experience maintaining accurate records, tracking gifts, and generating reports
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy

Event coordination experience:

  • Planning or supporting fundraising events, galas, or community events
  • Coordinating logistics such as vendors, venues, schedules, and guest lists
  • Experience working with committees or volunteers

Additional strengths:

  • Strong writing and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Comfort working in a mission-driven or faith-based nonprofit environment
