Executive Director | Adult Guardianship Services of Summit County

The Executive Director is the key management leader of Adult Guardianship Services of Summit County (AGS). The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan of the organization. Other key duties include fundraising, marketing, and community outreach. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors
 
Role Description: The Executive Director is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in the Greater Akron area, responsible for the overall strategic and operational management of Adult Guardianship Services. This role oversees guardianship provided by volunteers and professional guardians, ensures alignment with the agency’s mission and values, and maintains compliance with regulatory and funding requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading and mentoring staff, managing budgets and financial performance, and guiding organizational planning and quality improvement initiatives. The Executive Director represents the agency in the community, cultivates partnerships with stakeholders and funders, and advocates for the needs of individuals served. This position also works closely with the Board of Directors, providing regular reporting, supporting governance activities, and helping shape long-term strategic direction.

Qualifications:
• Demonstrated leadership and management skills, including experience overseeing multidisciplinary teams and organizational operations.
• Expertise in behavioral health, human services, with knowledge of developmental disabilities, community mental health, recovery-focused care, and related regulatory environments.
• Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, planning, and oversight of complex funding streams and contracts.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with volunteers, staff, board members, partners, and community organizations.
Strategic planning and organizational development skills, with a track record of driving innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
• Experience in fundraising, grant development, and cultivating donor or funding relationships is highly beneficial.
• Commitment to equity, inclusion, and person-centered care, with the ability to foster a respectful, supportive, and high-performing workplace culture.
• Advanced degree in business administration, social work, psychology, public administration, or a related field is preferred; significant relevant leadership experience in lieu of an advanced degree may be considered.

Grants Specialist | Akron Zoo

Salary: $60,000-$65,000 per year

The Grants Specialist serves as a key member of the External Affairs team at the Akron Zoo and is primarily responsible for securing grant funding to support facilities, educational initiatives, conservation efforts, and special projects.

This role encompasses all aspects of the grant lifecycle, including prospect research, proposal writing, submission of letters of inquiry, grant tracking, reporting, and stewardship. The specialist collaborates closely with the Director of External Affairs, program staff, and Finance to develop compelling, well-researched proposals and to compile required data for grant reports.

In addition, the position involves identifying funding opportunities through ongoing research, cultivating relationships with current and prospective funders through meetings and site visits, and securing commitments or endorsement letters from partners when needed. The Grants Specialist may also assist in planning stewardship events, provide support during the implementation of select grant-funded projects, and maintain a deep understanding of the organization and relevant fields such as education, zoology, and conservation.
Additional responsibilities include participating in departmental planning, attending fundraising events, and serving on internal committees.

The position generally operates during standard weekday business hours, with occasional evening, weekend, or holiday responsibilities as part of the Incident Command Team. Requirements include a bachelor’s degree (preferably in social sciences or nonprofit management), at least three years of grant writing experience, strong communication and organizational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, with familiarity in donor databases considered a plus. A valid Ohio driver’s license and occasional travel may also be required. This is a full-time, exempt position with benefits at a drug-free workplace and equal opportunity employer.
 

Community Investment Specialist | Akron Community Foundation

Akron Community Foundation seeks a collaborative, detail-oriented professional to join our Community Investment team as a Community Investment Specialist. This role supports the foundation's grantmaking efforts by working closely with nonprofit applicants, grantees, fundholders, volunteers and community partners to help advance meaningful philanthropic investments throughout our region.

The Community Investment Specialist assists with grant cycle administration, applicant support, due diligence, grant reporting, database management and research. This position also helps identify emerging community needs, supports impact tracking and evaluation, and contributes to strategic grantmaking initiatives aligned with the foundation's priority areas, including arts and culture, civic affairs, education, and health and human services.

Manager of Engagement | Feeding Medina County

The Manager of Engagement plans and manages all major FMC events, oversees marketing and social media, supports donor stewardship, and assists with grant writing and reporting. This role collaborates closely with staff, volunteers, board members, and community partners to increase awareness, strengthen donor relationships, and drive fundraising success.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead planning and execution of FMC’s major events, including the Annual Gala, Friendraiser, and Donor Appreciation Event.
