About Our Chapter & Leadership

Our Mission: To foster the development and growth of fundraising professionals throughout Northwest Ohio and promote high ethical standards in the fundraising profession. We do this by providing outstanding professional development programs, career-growth options, mentoring partnerships, access to resources, and opportunities to network and get involved in our philanthropic community.

Our Chapter is also fortunate to be distinguished by its members. We are proud to have 4 Advanced Certified Fundraising Executives (ACFRE) credentialed members in our chapter, in addition 15 of our members are Certified Fundraising Executives (CFRE). CFRE certification serves as an impartial, third-party endorsement of your knowledge and experience of international standards in philanthropy. It adds to your credibility as a fundraiser and sets you apart from other professionals as a veritable steward of the public trust. All of our chapter programs are approved for CFRE credits. Learn more about CFRE and ACFRE credentials.

Our premier event is National Philanthropy Day, which is held in November to celebrate the impact of philanthropy in our community. Each year, more than 400 community leaders attend the awards luncheon to honor outstanding philanthropists, corporations, foundations, volunteers, and fundraisers of all ages.

We invite you to join our Chapter, get involved, and join the excitement. Learn more about member benefits, including professional development and education, networking and career growth, access and resources, and more!

Ten Star & IDEA Champion Designations

AFP’s Strategic Plan is the blueprint for organizational growth and success in the future. For the strategic plan to be effective, it must be implemented through a partnership between AFP Global and the local chapters. As each chapter contributes its part to the overall Strategic Plan, AFP will meet its goals and continue to advance philanthropy and the fundraising profession around the world.

The Chapter Ten Star & Ten Star Gold awards honor those chapters who have accomplished many of the key objectives outlined in the Strategic Plan.  Both Awards encourage chapters to perform specific activities designed to increase professionalism within fundraising and public awareness of the importance of philanthropy.

The IDEA Champion Designation recognizes those chapters who have accomplished many of the key objectives outlined across priorities of the strategic plan. This designation encourages chapters to perform specific activities designed to increase IDEA within fundraising and public awareness of the importance of philanthropy in all cultures.

The AFP Northwest Ohio Chapter has received recognition for Ten Star Gold & IDEA Champion for 2026.
