About the Event: 

Capital Region Fundraising Day is our region’s largest one-day conference for fundraising and development professionals, offering engaging education sessions, networking opportunities, and collaboration with peers and community supporters alike. You'll have the opportunity to connect with dedicated regional fundraisers, all eager to exchange ideas, build community, and raise up the profession together.  It’s a great day to be a fundraiser!

From Dull to Dazzling: Boosting Annual Appeal Revenue Through Pictorial Storytelling with Rebecca Keister, Erie Canalway Heritage Fund
If a picture is worth a thousand words, why are development professionals still writing donor appeal letters? The truth is that we best connect with our donors by interweaving emotional (visual) and intellectual (written) messaging. This session will illustrate (pun intended) how you can take your annual appeals from dull to dazzling while maintaining the integrity of your ask.

3:15pm – Virtual Plenary Session:  Smooth Sailing:  Your Ultimate Fundraising Stewardship Plan by T. Clay Buck, CFRE, Master Trainer, TCB Fundraising
A documented fundraising plan is the key to tackling all of your fundraising goals – and, indeed, your nonprofit’s work. A written plan charts the path forward, establishes critical timelines, and creates an accountability for you as the fundraiser, your team, and your responsibility to the whole organization.  There's so much talk about donor retention and acknowledgement, but how do you accomplish it all? What are the best strategies for donor stewardship and how do they fit into a comprehensive fundraising plan? In this session we'll dig deep into what stewardship is, review the science behind it and current trends, and craft an easily executable plan that any fundraiser can put into place right away.
4:15pm – National Philanthropy Day Award Ceremony hosted by Angelique Powell, Director of Community Animation at the Blake Annex, and NPD 2023 Impact Award recipient. This year’s conference will conclude with the presentation of the National Philanthropy Day Awards, which recognize individuals, groups, and organizations that make impactful contributions to our local community, and pave the way for future philanthropic endeavors.

Rachel%20edit.jpg Rachel D'Souza is the founder of  Gladiator Consulting in St. Louis, MO, a boutique firm co-creating with nonprofits across the country. As a proud member of the Community-Centric Fundraising Global Council, Rachel works to guide and resource a global initiative to reimagine the nonprofit sector through a lens of radical collaboration, racial equity, social justice, and decolonization.In 2024, Rachel became the first person of color to serve as Board President of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater St. Louis in its 40+ year history.
