Job Description
 
Job Title: Senior Center Director FLSA: Exempt
Schedule: Full-time (40 hours)
Department Program: The Senior Center at Spring St.
Accountability: Executive Director
Summary:
The Senior Center Director will oversee the operations and management of the Senior Center,
providing leadership, guidance, and direction to staff and volunteers. This role involves
developing programs that enhance the quality of life for seniors/older adults, ensuring the Center
is a welcoming and supportive environment.
Duties and Responsibilities- This is not an all-encompassing list, other duties and
responsibilities may arise from time to time.
 Implementation of policies and procedures- local, state and federal aging and
organizational policies/procedures.
 Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including health and safety
standards.
 Retention of required and useful data for safety and compliance.
 Follow financial controls and guidelines established by AAA and the BAMS Fiscal
Director in all matters of budgeting, reporting, collection & participant contributions etc.
 Conduct Quality Assurance surveys throughout the year for evaluation and compliance
purposes.
 Maintain accurate records and prepare county AAA, organizational, and funding agency
reports within the required timeframes.
 Admission and orientation of Senior Center members. Retention of Senior Center
members through engagement.
 Discharge of Senior Center memberships.
 Develop, implement, and evaluate community programs and services tailored to seniors’
needs. Promoting social, intellectual, cultural, economic, emotional, physical needs
through monthly/yearly Senior Center programming.
 
 Providing educational programs that regularly focus on self-enrichment and living
safely/independently with a focus on Health & Wellness, Nutrition, Consumer Education.
 Work with Fiscal/Development Directors to ensure effective use of funds and resources.
 Work collaboratively with Executive Chef and Sous Chef on providing pertinent
information pertaining to congregate meals, activities, events, and other important
information to uphold AAA compliance and organizational standards/requirements.
 Provide/Assist with referral resources to seniors needing Case Management, Nutrition
Programs, Transportation, Employment Services, Legal and Advocacy Assistance etc.
 Recruit, train, and supervise staff and volunteers, fostering a collaborative team
environment.
 Work with the Development Director to partner with local organizations, independent
Senior Center Contractors, to enhance services offered at the center and for sponsorship
of events.
 Partner with the Development Director to promote community outreach to raise
awareness of available services and programs also utilizing social media/website.
 Coordinate employee/volunteer work schedules.
 Coordinate and manage all Senior Center activities, events, and fundraisers.
 Follow-up of thank you emails/letters to volunteer/donors are sent out.
 Monthly Newsletter is provided to senior/community members.
 Collaborate with other BAMS service departments to ensure effective and efficient
organizational goals are met.
 Work with Safety and Facilities Coordinator to schedule, manage and track annual fire
safety building inspections.
 Work with Safety and Facilities Coordinator to schedule, execute and track practice fire
evacuation drills at least semi-annually, (preferably 1 per quarter).
 Maintain the Center’s Emergency Preparedness Procedure and update accordingly when
needed- Collaborate with Safety Coordinator.
 Address and resolve issues or concerns from seniors and their families.
 Maintain a listing of all Senior Center incidents and work with Safety/Facilities
Coordinator to remedy safety concerns.
 Promote a clean center, ensuring sanitation is upheld, and any maintenance concerns are
communicated to the Safety Coordinator.
 Work with the Executive Team to execute the organization’s three-year strategic plan for
the Center’s growth and development.
 Participate in organizational training and participate in AAA trainings consistent with
AAA procedures to improve skills, foster development of positive behavior towards older
persons, assist in center program development & provide skills necessary for adequate
facility and fiscal management.
 Keep up to date with First Aid and Cardiopulmonary certification and recertification.
 
 Assist with producing relevant training for Senior Center staff pertaining to older adults’
special needs, physical and mental disabilities.
 Work in Donor Perfect to maintain an accurate database of donors and volunteers. Send
“Thank you” emails to volunteers and donors when necessary. Communicate with the
Development Director and Volunteer Coordinator for the responsibility of thank you
letters.
Educational Requirements:
This position requires one of the following qualifications:
(1) At least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 2
years’ social or health services experience.
(2) A high school diploma or GED equivalent and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the
social or health service setting and skills to work with aging adults or adults with functional
impairment and to supervise center staff persons.

1. Senior Services and Programs: Understanding of programs and services available for
seniors, including health, wellness, and social engagement.
2. Regulations and Compliance: Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations
governing senior services and nonprofit organizations.
3. Community Resources: Knowledge of local resources, agencies, and organizations that
provide support for seniors.
4. Budget Management: Understanding of financial principles and budget management for
nonprofit or community organizations.
5. Grant Writing and Fundraising-Understanding of the grant/fundraising process to assist
the Development Director or Grant/Proposal Writer.

1. Leadership and Supervision: Strong ability to lead, motivate, discipline and manage staff
and volunteers effectively and when needed.
2. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey information
clearly to various stakeholders.

4. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to assess situations and develop effective
solutions to issues that arise.

seniors and fulfill their needs

Working/Physical Conditions:
Operating work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm based primarily indoors of a Community Senior
Center. On occasions, it may include some outdoor activities or events. The Center is accessible
for seniors with mobility issues. Flexibility is required due to some evenings, weekend events,
and community outreach.
The job requires sitting, standing, walking, lifting, moving, talking, listening, and utilizing
standard office equipment. The ability to drive seniors may be necessary from time to time. Must
be willing/be able to travel to conferences and training when needed.
The level of noise varies depending on the number of members attending the Center. The
temperature varies.
Pay Range: $55,000-$60,000
