The SC Lowcountry Chapter is proud to be a Friends of Diversity Chapter.  We are honored to have received this designation every year since its inauguration in 2010.

AFP International’s Diversity and Inclusion Philosophy Statement

AFP believes that diversity and inclusion create a strong, vital and unified force for the effective pursuit of an organization’s mission and achieving philanthropic success.

AFP International’s Definition of Diversity and Inclusion in Fundraising 

AFP seeks to achieve a broad representation of experiences, perspectives, and cultures to ensure that the best possible thinking, ideas, opportunities and solutions are considered; intentionally creates a respectful and welcoming environment that is open to all; and appreciates the unique contributions of every member of the community.

South Carolina Lowcountry Association of Fundraising Professionals Chapter Diversity Statement 

The South Carolina Lowcountry Chapter of AFP is committed to nurturing and sustaining an inclusive environment that draws upon the strength of the diversity of our community. Our chapter defines and supports diversity as follows: seeking and achieving of a broad representation of experiences, perspectives, opinions, and cultures.

*Chapter Resolution on Diversity was approved by the board in 2008 and contained the definition of chapter diversity which is included above.

VII. Diversity Resolution

South Carolina Lowcountry Association of Fundraising Professional

Board Resolution Proposed and passed April 18, 2008 (reaffirmed December 2012);

Updated and approved (with new chapter mission statement) March 14, 2014

WHEREAS the mission of the South Carolina Lowcountry Association of Fundraising Professionals (SCLAFP) is to advance the profession and culture of philanthropy in the Lowcountry; and,

  • WHEREAS SCLAFP is committed to educating and encouraging its members and the non-profit sector to better serve their respective communities; and,
  • WHEREAS SCLAFP defines diversity as the seeking and achieving of a broad representation of experiences, perspectives, opinions, and cultures; and,
  • WHEREAS SCLAFP values inclusiveness as an essential source of vitality and strength for the effective pursuit of an organization’s mission;
  • THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT South Carolina Lowcountry Association of Fundraising Professionals is committed to diversity as an ongoing proactive process in its governance, committees, membership, programs, and activities.
