I'm originally from:  Owego, New York

Alana Morrall

Job title:  Director of Development

Employed by:
  East Cooper Community Outreach (ECCO)

What I like most about my job:  It is such a rewarding experience to work for an organization that helps others and makes such an impact in the community…it doesn’t even feel like a job.

I recently joined AFP because:  My previous fundraising experience has been in the performing arts industry. Having recently joined ECCO, I thought AFP would be a good resource to utilize now that I’m in working in a new field. Also, I’ve only been in Charleston for a little over two years, so I’m still trying to broaden my professional network.

I'm originally from:  Washington, D.C.

Something my AFP colleagues might not know about me is:  I'm a certified rescue scuba diver.

If I had one week to do anything I wanted, I would:  Probably spend the week here – either so I could adopt a dog and dedicate time to train him or her, do some home improvement projects, or be a tourist for the week and visit all the places I still haven’t been to in the area.

Steve Mount

Job title:  Director of Philanthropy

What I like most about my job:  Understanding each individual’s passion, connecting passions with organizational priorities, and ensuring each relationship is valued in a meaningful manner – as we all know, great stewardship is the hallmark of an exceptional fundraising program!

I joined the Lowcountry Chapter of AFP because:  As a long-time NSFRE and AFP member – who lapsed after a decade in higher education-CASEland – I missed the camaraderie, robust exchange of ideas, and professional resources associated with AFP.

I’m originally from:  Ithaca, NY

My hobbies/interests include:  Historic preservation and mountain biking were interests, until my twin boys arrived.  Jack and Ethan are now 6, and I am found at swim lessons, soccer practice and helping with first grade homework . . . which is more difficult than I remember.

Something my AFP colleagues might not know about me is:  I began my career in archival and collections management and was a founding member of the AFP Finger Lakes Chapter.

If I had one week to do anything I wanted, I would:  Unplug my smart phone and disappear into rural America.  Montana and the Dakotas are still on my list . . .
