The AFP New Mexico Chapter is committed to investing in the philanthropic sector in New Mexico through AFP membership. AFP membership scholarships are available by application to any fundraising professional who is interested in joining AFP New Mexico and has a financial need. Membership scholarship applications are accepted at any time. Scholarship funding is limited and amounts may vary based on need.
Individuals may apply for an AFP New Mexico Chapter Scholarship for the local AFP Chapter and AFP-Global annual dues.
AFP Professional membership scholarships are open to individuals who hold some degree of responsibility directly for fundraising; subscribe to the AFP Code of Professional Ethical Principles and Standards and its bylaws; promote the Donor Bill of Rights and are employed or have been employed by an institution or organization that provides benefits to society. This scholarship is open to individuals who meet these requirements and are not current AFP-NM members. Renewing members are generally not eligible. However, the board scholarship committee may consider “hardship” situations for renewing members.
Young Professional membership scholarships are open to individuals 30 years or younger who hold some degree of responsibility directly for fundraising; subscribe to the AFP Code of Professional Ethical Principles and Standards and its bylaws; promote the Donor Bill of Rights and are employed or have been employed by an institution or organization that provides benefits to society. This scholarship is open to individuals who meet these requirements and are not current AFP-NM members. Renewing members are generally not eligible. However, the board scholarship committee may consider “hardship” situations for renewing members.
Associate Member scholarships are available on a limited basis for those individuals who meet the criteria for Associate members. Associate membership in the Association shall be open to individuals or volunteers (a) who are the primary fundraiser for an all-volunteer nonprofit, (b) are engaged in fields related to fundraising and fundraising support, or (c) have mutual interests with fundraising professionals, and (d) who subscribe to the AFP Code of Ethical Standards and promote the Donor Bill of Rights. Associate members in good standing may vote, serve on chapter or Association committees and task forces and hold Association or chapter office.
Priority for all scholarships will be given to applicants from small organizations or organizations unable to pay the membership fee. Strong consideration will also be given to applicants who have been actively involved in the AFP New Mexico Chapter and who reflect a broad representation of experiences, perspectives, opinions and cultures. If awarded an AFP New Mexico Membership Scholarship, recipients are expected to attend meetings regularly and are encouraged to serve on a board committee.
After your application is submitted, it will be reviewed by the AFP New Mexico Chapter Scholarship Committee, which will make a recommendation to the AFP New Mexico Chapter Board. If the chapter is able to fund the scholarship, we will contact you. If you have questions about the scholarship process, please contact the AFP-NM Chapter Administrator at staff@afp-nm.org.
