Alberto “Beto” Rivas, an ubiquitous presence within Oklahoma has always been driven by his passion for people. As a First American Citizen of the Chickasaw Nation and proud Chicano, Rivas has been involved in local and statewide efforts for more than 15 years. With his recent move to Oklahoma City, Rivas works as the Development Director for Center for Children and Families in Norman, where the mission is to “Heal Children, Empower Youth, and Strengthen Families”. Alberto is described as possessing an infectious perspective of purpose, one that embraces the idea that equity, equality, diversity, and mental health acceptance are all attainable through people coming together with one common purpose, a quality of life for all. This perspective has had Rivas in the role of activist for more than 10 years, advocating for a number of causes and organizations. For his efforts and contributions to a varied list of non-profits and organizations in the state of Oklahoma, whether as a board member, public speaker, consultant or volunteer, he has been recognized with numerous accolades from local officials, professional groups, and media outlets, most recently receiving the Governor's Art Award for Leadership and Volunteerism.
