Job Overview:

The Director of Development is responsible for overseeing all fundraising goals and initiatives as well as the day-to-day responsibilities of managing donations staff and volunteers. The role is expected to successfully cultivate, care for and grow donor relationships with individuals, churches, and other organizations. 

The Director of Development reports to the Executive Director of the organization. This position closely assists the Founder and the Executive Director in planning and strategizing for the growth of the organization. This role includes working closely with board members, staff and volunteers. 

As a highly visible representative of the Pastors Collective and the Retreat at Church Creek, the Director of Development must demonstrate outstanding performance in positively representing the organization and its Founder at all times.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute fundraising strategies to encourage new or increased contributions, maximizing participation and contributions while minimizing costs.
  • Conduct research to identify the goals, net worth, charitable donation history, or other data related to potential donors, potential investors, or general donor markets.
  • Increase public awareness of organizational causes, activities, and needs with corporate representatives, government officials, community and church leaders.
  • Develop several targeted, smaller fundraising events and a large annual gala event.
  • Oversee development of effective fundraising and marketing materials.
  • Formulate policies and procedures related to fundraising programs. 
  • Assign, supervise, and review the activities of fundraising staff and volunteers.
  • Oversee maintenance of CRM database of donors, volunteers and retreat participants.

Other:

  • Ability to work independently, but also function as a part of a team and contribute to the goals of the full team.
  • Others duties as assigned.

Requirements

Candidate Requirements:

Our ideal candidate will have a bachelors degree and a minimum of five years’ fundraising / development experience, preferably in the Christian nonprofit arena. CFRE certification is preferred.

Fundraising experience must include establishing successful, strategic fundraising campaigns, including both annual giving and capital campaigns; solicitation of major gifts; planning and overseeing donor events; coordinating volunteers; and managing staff effectively. 

Successful applicant must demonstrate an ability to independently develop and implement strategies and sustain long-term donor relationships.

Familiarity with CRM nonprofit software, donor databases and other fundraising technology is required. Knowledge of Bloomerang, QGiv, Gratavid and MS Office 365 are a plus. Familiarity with procurement of grants is also a plus.

Work Demands / Environment:

  • Frequent sitting. May require long periods of working at a computer.
  • Travel by car and plane will be required.
