Salary Range: $55,000- $63,000

Reporting to the Vice President of Development and Communications, the Development Director will provide support in the highly specialized area of donor communications to share the impact of philanthropy on Florence Crittenton’s mission through all mediums including but not limited to the website, social media, and digital outreach.

This position is responsible for managing the communications efforts of Florence Crittenton including assisting in 

  • proposal and case writing
  • copywriting and editing
  • managing email communications to donors and prospects
  • assisting the Vice President of Development and Communications
  • managing communications related to the annual events
  • working closely on a variety of projects with a heavy focus on writing to both prospective and current donors.

This position requires:

  • the ability to write clearly attractive copy with a distinctive style that supports the institutional voice of Florence Crittenton
  • interpret copywriting briefs to understand project requirements
  • edit and proofread copy as needed
  • use SEO principles to maximize copy's reach.

The applicant should be a self-starter who is able to prioritize the workload effectively, as well as demonstrate the ability to work under pressure without compromising creativity or accuracy.

The Director must:

  • hold a Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Communications, or related field
  • have a minimum of three (3) years handling donor relations, stewardship, and event planning and management
  • experience using a CRM (customer relationship management) system, such as Virtuous and/or One Cause preferred
  • experience using Canva is a plus.
  • Other requirements include:

  • knowledge of standard biographical and business-related reference manuals
  • use of Internet research engines
  • the ability to manage multiple assignments with limited supervision 

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Marketing and Communications:
    • Works with the Vice President of Development and Communications to develop and execute an annual communications plan focused on the mission and vision of the organization.
    • Produce print and broadcast marketing (social media and website) and collateral materials, ensuring brand integrity.
    • Craft press and advisory releases to promote Florence Crittenton and its impact
  • Special Events:
    • Assists in executing unique donor experiences through fundraising and stewardship events, including virtual events.
  • Stewardship:
    • Lead donor recognition and stewardship activities.
    • Oversee a timely and relevant gift acknowledgment program.
    • Responsible for retaining donors and growing pool of recurring donations
    • Design and implement donor appreciation and cultivation events and activities
  • Database Management: Donation Entry Grant Management and Writing Other duties as assigned
