Bishop Gadsden Episcopal Retirement Community - Philanthropy Program Manager

  

OBJECTIVE:

The Philanthropy Program Manager is an integral part of the charitable giving efforts of the Office of Charitable Giving and Communications at Bishop Gadsden. Specifically, the Philanthropy Program Manager assists in the planning and implementation of fundraising activities of the Charitable Giving Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Event Planning & Execution
  • Organize and execute a variety of departmental events, including:
    • Small and medium-sized fundraising and recognition events related to charitable giving
    • Large events such as the Donor Gala, Annual Giving Kick-off, Board Dinner, and other leadership events related to charitable giving.
  • Lead the planning and execution of biannual service projects for residents and team members 
Charitable Mission Committee Support
  • Coordinate and lead activities of the Charitable Mission Committees including:
    • Annual Giving
    • Events
    • Non-Profit Selection
    • Scholarship
    • Special Projects
    • Volunteerism
    • Future Residents
  • Support additional committee work of the Charitable Mission Committee as needed, including:
    • Coordinating committee meetings, preparing agendas in consultation with the VP and committee chairs, drafting minutes, preparing presentations, executing follow-up requests, etc.
  • Identify funding opportunities including foundation grants, sponsorship, and other non-resident philanthropic opportunities appropriate to specific programs and projects. 
Coordination with the Mission-Based Stores
  • The Retail Department is a parallel department operating under the Charitable Mission and Communications umbrella. The Senior Philanthropy Manager is responsible for coordinating with the Retail Department team where there is alignment to improve revenue for the Charitable Mission Fund. This may include special event coordination or promotion assistance.
Team Member Scholarship and Charitable Giving
  • Manage the team member scholarship programs with the Scholarship Committee.
  • Lead team members’ giving efforts such as Shining Star and food and/or toy drives. 
Communications & Publications
  • Assist in the development and execution of key communications and mailings related to charitable giving. This work is conducted in consultation with the Communications Department team members.
  • Assist VP for Mission and Communications in coordinating communications and meetings with residents and donors.
  • Support donor recognition efforts.
  • Prepare narrative reports and presentations as needed. This is done in consultation with the Communications Department to ensure compliance with organizational branding policies. 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assume accountability for department and facility policies and procedures and assume accountability for information contained in the current employee handbook.
  • Adhere to established facility and departmental safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in facility fire drill procedures.
  • Perform all responsibilities with adherence to Resident’s Rights and HIPAA.
  • Maintain professional appearance and conduct always exhibiting a respectful and courteous demeanor.
  • Adhere to the Bishop Gadsden dress code policy and guidelines.
  • Participate in educational and departmental opportunities.
  • Attend mandatory continuing education sessions.
  • Attend department meetings and/or educational opportunities as required.
  • Attend facility functions and demonstrate interest in Bishop Gadsden activities.
  • Show evidence of working as a team member.
  • Adhere to attendance and scheduling requirements.
  • Accept additional duties as necessary in a cooperative manner.
  • Observe fiscal responsibility in use of Bishop Gadsden resources and purchases made on behalf of Bishop Gadsden. 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to stand, lift, bend, and stoop for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to read and comprehend labels and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate with residents, staff, and supervisors. 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5 years’ related experience, within a nonprofit environment, preferred.
  • Previous data analytics experience, preferred. 
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with daily computer systems input, specifically in Microsoft Office systems with concentration on Word and Excel, including mail merges and letters.
  • General knowledge of accounting practices and procedures. 

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The physical demands, with reasonable accommodation, of an employee in this position are as follows:
  • Manual dexterity, particularly in hand/arms.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, reach, squat, climb, reach above, carry, and lift (up to 50 pounds +/-).
  • Ability to operate computer and keyboard. 
  • Ability to sit and stand for periods of time.

SALARY RANGE:

$60,000-$70,000
