2026 NATIONAL PHILANTHROPY DAY®



Thank you for your interest in nominating a deserving individual, organization, or business who demonstrates outstanding philanthropy in Hampton Roads. We look forward to commemorating their important work at the Association of Fundraising Professionals–Hampton Roads 2026 National Philanthropy Day celebration! This year's awards luncheon will take place on Tuesday, November 10, 2026 at 11:30 am at The Westin Virginia Beach Town Center (4535 Commerce St, Virginia Beach, VA 23462).

You may submit more than one nomination and/or submit the same nominee for multiple award categories, but you will need to complete a new customized form for each submission. Self-nominations are welcome and encouraged! Organizations and individuals may co-nominate using one form and listing contact information for each co-nominator.

AFP Hampton Roads appreciates your commitment to sharing your nominee’s story and for helping us recognize the inspiration and the impact of philanthropy in our region!

NATIONAL PHILANTHROPY DAY AWARD CATEGORIES

 

Outstanding Fundraising Volunteer (1 Award)

The Outstanding Fundraising Volunteer is a leader who sets the tone for fundraising. By leveraging relationships built through their involvement across our community, the nominee demonstrates their dedication to nonprofit organizations aligned with their interests and secures financial resources to further sustain and grow their favorite causes’ operations.

 

Outstanding Philanthropist - Organization or Corporation (1 Award)

The Outstanding Philanthropist - Organization or Corporation has shown exemplary generosity to a variety of nonprofit organizations across Hampton Roads through gifts of time, talent, treasure, and testimony. Their example catalyzes other entities and/or individuals to engage in philanthropy and results in even greater generosity to the causes and organizations they support.

 

Outstanding Philanthropist - Individual or Family (1 Award)

The Outstanding Philanthropist - Individual or Family has shown exemplary generosity to multiple nonprofit organizations and causes in Hampton Roads through gifts of time, talent, treasure, and testimony. Their example catalyzes other donors to increase their philanthropy and results in even greater generosity and community impact.

 

Outstanding Nonprofit in Fundraising (1 Award)

The Outstanding Nonprofit in Fundraising is an organization serving constituents in Hampton Roads with an exemplary fundraising program. Nominees have leveraged community partnerships to increase their profile and grow their contributed revenue, developed successful, creative campaigns to reach new and existing donors, and enhanced donors’ experience to drive mission-oriented impact. Through innovative efforts and commitment to best practices in fundraising, the nominee has developed a thriving donor base and secured an infrastructure of enthusiastic supporters.

 

Outstanding Nonprofit Leader (1 Award)

The Outstanding Nonprofit Leader provides leadership that motivates board and staff members of their organization(s), pushing their mission to new heights. Their leadership has helped the nonprofit organizations they have worked with to develop new programs, to strengthen relationships with constituents, partners, and beneficiaries through exceptional service, and to strategize for continued mission-focused impact well into the future. Nominees will have also demonstrated their commitment to the nonprofit ecosystem through volunteer service and financial support of other nonprofit organizations in Hampton Roads. Nominees must either 1) be a member of AFP–HR in good standing AND/OR 2) have a current member of AFP–HR in good standing on their staff.

 

Outstanding Fundraising Professional (1 Award)

The Outstanding Fundraising Professional significantly advances and sustains the mission(s) of their nonprofit organization(s) through the strategic development of resources and relationships. Serving in a leadership capacity, they contribute to initiatives that strengthen fundraising performance, support meaningful growth in return on investment, introduce creative and innovative approaches to engage new donors, and promote ethical fundraising practices. Nominees will have also demonstrated an ongoing commitment to fundraising and philanthropy through volunteer service and financial support of nonprofit organizations in Hampton Roads. All nominees must be an AFP-HR member in good standing.
