The Hampton Roads chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP–HR) is the region’s professional organization specifically supporting fundraisers and their work in philanthropy. AFP–HR has about 200 members and hosts monthly educational luncheons in addition to its annual Fundraising Leadership Symposium. The networking we provide our members, in addition to these educational opportunities, is designed to connect fundraisers from across the nonprofit ecosystem and build a stronger philanthropic community in our region. We are proud of the work our chapter is doing in our community to support philanthropy and the fundraising professionals who make it possible.

AFP-Hampton Roads’ National Philanthropy Day, is an annual celebration of philanthropy - giving, volunteering, and charitable engagement. Highlighting the accomplishments of this region’s philanthropic community, this celebration salutes philanthropy in Hampton Roads each November, bringing together an audience of 500 which includes our members as well as difference-makers and decision-makers who make our community a better place to live, work and donate.

Proceeds from National Philanthropy Day help our AFP chapter provide quality programming for members, scholarships for professional development opportunities for local fundraisers, and networking opportunities and resources to equip professionals for success in supporting philanthropy.
