The Mentorship Program provides opportunities for new and novice development professionals to strengthen their fundraising skills with one-on-one guidance and support from more experienced development professionals.
The Program is in keeping with the AFP Global mission: “AFP exists to foster the development and growth of fundraising professionals and the profession, to promote high ethical behavior in the fundraising profession and to preserve and enhance philanthropy and volunteerism.” This program complements other AFP-NNE professional development programs including the spring and fall conferences and Regional Connects.
The Mentorship Program provides for the specific skill needs of the Mentees by engaging the volunteer talents of more experienced development professionals. Mentors are more experienced development professionals who provide one-on-one guidance for Mentees who are new and novice development professionals whose primary responsibility is fundraising and who have at least 1 year of professional development experience.
Since launching the program in 2018, we have matched 72 Mentees with a Mentor! The Mentors provide one-on-one professional guidance to strengthen the fundraising skills of novice development professionals with at least one year of development experience.
