Building the House: Applying Project Management Principles to the Grant Proposal Process

From the foundation to the interior, building a house requires that certain steps be taken in the correct order. Learn how to "build the house" correctly and apply the principles of project management to submit intentional, organized, cohesive multi-year, large-dollar, or Federal grant proposals. 

After participating in this session, attendees should be able to:

  1. Apply project management principles to organize their approach to large-dollar or multi-year grant proposals, ensuring the most ethical use of staff time within the organization.
  2. Analyze a Notice of Funding Opportunity to ensure organizational preparation for the use of grant funds if awarded.
  3. Compose a grant proposal that meets and exceeds scoring criteria, ensuring the highest chances of success.

Presenter: Danielle F. Dougherty, MPA, Assistant Director of Grants Management, Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library 

About the Presenter

Danielle Dougherty is the Assistant Director of Grants Management at Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library where she manages all corporate and foundation fundraising in support of the institution. To date, she has raised nearly $3 million in grant funding for organizations ranging from museums to domestic violence centers. Danielle has a Master's in Public Administration from West Chester University.
