Difficult Decisions: Upholding the AFP Code of Ethical Standards

Please note: If the "FULL" sign is lit at the garage, please let the attendant know you are going to a meeting in the Community Service Building. CSB allows space for AFP program attendees. Bring your parking ticket to the program for validation.

Join us for a journey of decision making through scenarios that challenge the AFP Code of Ethical Standards throughout the course of a fundraiser’s day at work. In this interactive session, participants will work together to identify how decisions in each scenario relate to the standards and how certain actions violate the standards. Best practices for handling each ethical situation in a way that upholds the standards will be discussed.

During this session, you will:

  • Understand your responsibility to uphold the AFP Code of Ethical Standards.
  • Gain knowledge to identify violations to the AFP Code of Ethical Standards.
  • Learn and discuss best practices for handling ethical situations in ways that uphold the AFP Code of Ethical Standards.

About the Presenter

Lindsay Lancaster has over ten years of nonprofit experience and aspires to ignite the fun in fundraising. As a Foundation Relations Specialist at the Student Conservation Association, Lindsay manages a portfolio of foundations in the Eastern U.S. Previously, Lindsay worked at Healthy Foods for Healthy Kids (HFHK) in a dual role as Development Director and Program Manager. Contributing to the statewide expansion of HFHK’s school vegetable garden program, she managed many aspects of fundraising including grants, special events, digital campaigns, and foundation, corporate, and individual giving.
