AFP Okanagan: Online Canadian Indigenous Culture Training - Truth and Reconciliation Edition

Starts:  Jan 1, 2022 09:00 AM (PT)
Ends:  Jun 30, 2022 05:00 PM (PT)
Associated with  BC Interior Chapter

This online course has been developed by the Indigenous Leadership Development Institute of Canada. The training has been designed in accordance with the Truth & Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action (2015) and includes information about the history and legacy of residential schools, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Treaties and Indigenous rights, Indigenous law, and Indigenous-Crown relations.

When individuals from differing cultural backgrounds interact, there is often miscommunication, misunderstanding, and frustration. These obstacles can be overcome by making all parties more culturally sensitive. It is important for people to recognize how cultural backgrounds affect individual perceptions and actions; and how cultural awareness can improve the relationship between people from differing cultural backgrounds.

This online course is exclusively available and complimentary for AFP Okanagan Chapter members.
