Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access (IDEA) Scholarship

We recognize that Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access (IDEA) are central to our
mission, and expect all organizational interactions to reflect IDEA Principles, including a
demonstrated appreciation for different voices, active listening; open to disparate
viewpoints and opinions, and facilitating dialogues among the diverse groups.
The AFP-Southern NJ Chapter seeks to increase inclusion, diversity, equity and access
in its membership roster, and so invites professional colleagues that may represent one
or more IDEA constituencies to apply for an opportunity to join our chapter as new
members at no cost to them or their organization. Through a limited annual scholarship
program, the AFP-Southern NJ Chapter will cover the full cost for a year’s membership,
including chapter dues. AFP-Southern NJ is committed to promoting an inclusive,
diverse, equitable and accessible organization where every member, volunteer, staff
and board member can realize their potential and have their contributions valued.

Who are we looking for?
To qualify for this scholarship, individuals must represent one or more IDEA
constituencies and be a new member of AFP. AFP defines diversity as a core value. It is
an inclusive concept encompassing, without limitation, race, color, ethnicity, gender
identity, sexual orientation or identity; religion, nationality, age, economic class,
educational level, language, physical, mobility and ability, geography, and marital and
parental status. AFP’s diverse communities include: African-American/Black, Asian,
People with Disabilities, Faith-based, LGBTQ, Hispanic, Jewish, Rural, or another
underrepresented community. They also must subscribe to the AFP Code of Ethical Principles and Standards and its bylaws, promote the Donor Bill of Rights, and be employed or have been employed by an organization that provides benefits to society.

Resources, networking and guidance
In exchange for this scholarship, these new members will commit to a year of
participation with one of our chapter committees: Membership, Education & Ethics,
Communications, National Philanthropy Day or IDEA. If they choose, they will also be
matched with mentors through our chapter Mentoring Partnership Program to help
them get the most out of their membership and to provide feedback to the
membership.

Scholarships will be awarded on a first come, first served basis to applicants that meet the criteria and can effectively express a need. Applications due March 17, 2025. Please send to dblesi@kingswaylearningcenter.org/ Julie_fink@comcast.net
