AFP NWPA Chapter Scholarships

Each year, AFP NWPA seeks to achieve a broad representation of experience, perspective, opinion and culture through Chapter members. As many nonprofits and fundraising professionals continue to face financial and operational challenges as a result of COVID-19, we are grateful for the membership support from AFP Global.

Currently, we have several professional member AFP scholarships available! But don't delay, the deadline to apply for these scholarships is Friday, October 27, 2023.

Jared Magoon

Assistant Director of the Chautauqua Fund, Chautauqua Institution

“I look forward to being able to network with other fundraisers in the region. I find this to be of great importance for understanding the struggles and successes of the field that are particular to this area. Being able to share ideas and strategies, seek insights and simply have folks to bounce ideas off of is an incredible benefit not only to me as a fundraiser, but toward improving the efforts that go into my work.”

Wendy Wallace

Executive Director, Meals on Wheels Erie

“I am looking for every educational opportunity and every chance to network with colleagues in the not-for-profit sector. Although I do have some experience in fundraising and event planning, I would greatly appreciate the chance to learn from mentors and peers in fundraising. The prospect of learning fundraising best practices through professional education would be invaluable.”

Zach Webb

Director of Development, Second Harvest Food Bank of NW PA

“A scholarship membership to the AFP would provide the chance to learn best practices from peers in this marketplace and introduce them within my organization to facilitate future growth. I would LOVE to learn alongside those within this organization and give back through committee work.”

Jacob Bartko

Executive Director, Community Access Media (CAM Erie)

“By receiving this scholarship, I will gain opportunities to network with my peers and gain insight into the current challenges and solutions for fundraising during a pandemic. In addition, this scholarship would allow me to further my fundraising skills and techniques. The education provided through AFP, while learning best practices and standards, would allow me to continue growing our organization to serve more people in the Erie community.”

Jan Stork

VP of Development, Make-A-Wish Greater PA and WV

“As a founding member of the northwest Pennsylvania chapter of AFP, I have long recognized the need and benefit of having a chapter in our community to provide educational workshops, ethical practices and recognition opportunities for those who make our community a better place in which to live. I’m confident that my commitment to AFP, my willingness to serve in any capacity needed, and my shared expertise makes me a valuable member.”

Mitchell Marsh

Annual Fund Coordinator, Mercyhurst University

“I want to join AFP so I can have a jump start to my new role through networking and skill building. I am really looking forward to expanding my knowledge on fundraising in the coming months at Mercyhurst and I am also pursuing external opportunities to do that as well. Mercyhurst would benefit from this scholarship just as much as I would as I assume my new role on campus. I will implement new knowledge, experience, and ideas from this membership into our fundraising practices.”
