Preparing for Donor Diligence in a More Transparent World

This session will help fundraising and development leaders prepare for donor diligence in an era of increased transparency by understanding how donors use the Form 990 and audited financial statements in their decision-making process.

Learning points include:

  1. Understanding the importance of the Form 990 and audited financial statements.
  2. Walking through an organization’s Form 990 and audited financial statements through the eyes of a potential donor.
  3. Telling your organization’s story through the Form 990 and audited financial statements to better attract and retain donors.

      Emily Landry and Jonathan Rittenhouse | Whitley Penn
      Emily Landry has more than 13 years of tax public accounting experience focused on tax planning and consulting. Emily is the tax partner in charge of approximately 250 exempt organizations’ tax engagements annually. She teaches and/or attends at least 12 hours of exempt organizations specific continuing education on an annual basis and recently completed the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Not-for-Profit Certificate II designation and the University of Texas at Dallas Executive Certificate in Nonprofit Governance.

      Jonathan Rittenhouse has more than 14 years of public accounting experience providing audit and assurance advisory services to public and private companies and has extensive experience advising clients on generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) in the United States of America. Jonathan focuses primarily on the following industries: nonprofit, manufacturing, distribution, & logistics, construction, and employee benefit plans.
