Program Title:
"Breaking the Mold: Funding Through an Equity Lens"
Looking to the philanthropic community to enhance and to be deliberate in their analysis of non-profits when making funding decisions and analyzing success.
By using an equity lens that takes into account race and ethnicity, funders can identify and support organizations that typically don't have access to funding, opportunities and power. By using an equity lens grant makers can gain a better understanding of communities that will ultimately enable them to further their mission and goals.
When making funding decisions through an equity lens, grant makers should consider the following factors,
Analyzing data and information about race and ethnicity
Understanding disparities and why they exist
Understanding the root cause from a systemic perspective
Calling out race and ethnicity when trying to find solutions to the problem
Understanding the limitations of non-profits that have limited resources when competing for grant dollars
