Why do we need strategic planning?
Regardless where you sit in you non-profit organization - support staff, development officer or executive director – a strategic plan should be your road map for success. Put simply, a strategic plan is a management tool that serves the purpose of helping an organization do a better job. If crafted well, the plan will focus your energy, resources, and time while offering direction that moves you from plan to action. Please join us as Monica and George explain the strategic planning process, offer tips to define your role in that process and how AFP can help with the effort.
Monica Ojcius, Director of Strategic Initiatives and Special Projects at Community Hospice, is invested in her community and has spent her entire adult life in service to making a positive impact where she lives and loves. Monica has worked in the non-profit community for over 27 years with a large portion of that time being spent at Center for Human Services and more recently Community Hospice. Monica holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from CSU Stanislaus. She is heavily involved in the community, serving on the Boards for the Modesto Rotary Club, Omega Nu, and Association of Fundraising Professionals. In 2014 she was honored to receive the Outstanding Fundraising Professional award for our region. She is also a Senior Fellow of the American Leadership Forum Great Valley Chapter, Class III. She recently served on the Technical Advisory Board for the Transfer of Wealth study for Stanislaus County.
Dr. George Boodrookas has been an administrator at Modesto Junior College for the past 30 years. As the MJC Foundation ED, he oversees the annual fund, alumni relations, major gift and planned giving programs. In addition to serving on the AFP Board of Directors, Dr. Boodrookas is the current president of the Network of CA Community College Foundations. He is a Modesto native and graduate of Downey High School, UC Berkeley and Stan State.
