National Philanthropy Day

The Association for Fundraising Professionals Central Virginia is reimagining National Philanthropy Day in 2026 as a dynamic, community-centered experience designed to bring together fundraising professionals, nonprofit leaders, philanthropists, and community partners from across the region for an afternoon of service, learning, connection, and celebration.

The event will feature an optional community service project, a keynote address from facilitator, coach, and social change leader Evangeline Weiss, community-centered learning sessions, and our National Philanthropy Day Awards Mixer and Ceremony honoring the individuals and organizations whose generosity and leadership strengthen our region.

National Philanthropy Day® is the special day set aside to recognize and pay tribute to the great contributions that philanthropy – and those people active in the philanthropic community – have made to our lives, our communities and our world. Awards given recognize the leaders in the community who make a true impact on the quality of life, cultural vibrancy, and fabric of the region. 

Awards will be given in the following categories:

• Emerging Philanthropic Leader Award
• Enduring Spirit of Philanthropy Award
• Outstanding Organizational Partner Award
• Volunteer Impact Award
