Volunteer Opportunities

Our AFP chapter wouldn’t fulfill its mission without volunteers. Consider volunteering for AFP and build a network of nonprofit friends who you can rely upon for advice and support, while growing your leadership skills.

Submit our volunteer inquiry form and a member of our board will get back to you with more information.

Committee Opportunities Include:
  • Communications - Connects AFP members and other audiences to our programs, resources and events through print materials, e-communications, our chapter website and social media. Your skills in writing, editing, content development, planning, project management can help us build awareness, participation and membership for chapter and international initiatives.
  • Program/Education - Plan and execute monthly chapter programs as well as special sessions throughout the year. The education committee works with the Communications Committee to publicize programs and evaluate member satisfaction with program offerings.

  • Membership - Prepare and execute a membership recruitment and retention plan. The committee provides orientation for new members, administrates chapter scholarships, and works to promote membership diversity. This committee works closely with the Education and Communication Committees.

  • National Philanthropy Day AFP celebrates philanthropy in East Tennessee at the annual National Philanthropy Day awards luncheon. Committee volunteers coordinate and implement the event which takes place each November.

BE the CAUSE helps to fund local, national, and international programs including scholarships, leadership development, education and much more. A portion of every donation that a donor makes goes back to their local chapter to support local programs.

  •  Emerging Leaders The Emerging Leaders committee plans and implements the Emerging Leaders Summit, an event designed to inspire the next generation of nonprofit leaders, including college students, young professional, and anyone new to nonprofit fundraising and communications.

  • IDEA Promotes Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access to AFP for all members of the East TN fundraising community. Works to ensure that diversity and inclusion is incorporated into all aspects of the chapter’s operations.
