"There's nothing like being a part of nearly 4,000 fundraisers, gathered together for three days of networking, sharing and learning. I love when our community comes together. It's a time for innovation, exploration, inspiration and participating. I look forward to seeing everyone and celebrating the profession and everything that we make possible. You'll leave inspired and reinvigorated about your place in the fundraising community and the work you do every day that makes such a difference in the world."

Dedication to the professional advancement of our members
Each year AFP WNY selects a development professional member from Western New York who has a commitment to the profession, and to our chapter, to receive the Chamberlain Scholarship. This scholarship is intended to help a first-time attendee defer costs associated with attending the annual International Conference. It is a wonderful opportunity for fundraisers to enhance their skills to do the best job possible for the organizations they represent.
About the AFP Chamberlain Scholarship Program
"Attending AFP ICON 2019 as the WNY Chapter's Chamberlain Scholar was a transformative experience. The panel discussions and workshop sessions I attended were phenomenal, and I brought home a notebook full of practical advice that I could put into practice on the job right away. Some of the stewardship ideas I picked up have helped my organization improve our donor retention rates and turn one-time gifts into monthly donors! I had the opportunity to network with professionals in my field from around the world, and my only regret is that I wasn't able to be in multiple places at once because there were just too many good sessions to get to everything."
- Leslie Nickerson, Voice Buffalo, 2018 Chamberlain Recipient
The Chamberlain Scholarship Program honors Ralph Chamberlain, CFRE, a long-time fundraiser and supporter of AFP. Mr. Chamberlain helped to form one of the organization's first chapters, the Greater New York Chapter, and served as both chair of the association and the AFP Foundation. Because of his long-time support of the Foundation for Philanthropy, the AFP Board of Directors renamed the Conference Scholar Program in 2000 to honor Mr. Chamberlain's memory and commitment to the fundraising profession.
