Freddie Garcia
Keynote Presentation: Inclusive Leadership

This informative presentation will focus on the competencies necessary to Becoming an Inclusive Leader while navigating the stages of organizational readiness. Freddy will walk us through defining diversity, equity, & inclusion, today's challenges and the action necessary to becoming an inclusive organization. Attendees will be able to identify the six traits of any successful leader and the levers needed for organizational change.

Freddimir Garcia is the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Officer for the Hudson Gateway Association of REALTORS® (HGAR), a not-for-profit trade association representing over 13,000 real estate professionals doing business in The Bronx, Manhattan, Orange, Putnam, Rockland & Westchester Counties. It is the second largest REALTOR® Association in New York, and one of the largest in the country. In this newly created role, Freddy leads the Association's efforts in developing and executing HGAR's diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

Prior to joining HGAR, Freddy served as the Northern Regional Director of Diversity, Inclusion and Community Engagement for Westchester Medical Center Health Network. His first ten years out of college he worked at Marist College in various roles with his last serving as the Special Assistant to the President for Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement.

An active member of the community, Freddy is currently serving on various boards across the region including Family Services, Inc., RUPCO, Inc., Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress, and Rhinebeck Bank. He also works with various organizations in the Hudson Valley on the development, understanding, and implementation of DEI strategies to help create environments of inclusion and accountability. He is also the co-founder and Program Advisor of The Board Institute designed to diversify boards across the Hudson Valley by equipping people of color with the knowledge, support, and tools to serve.

He is a two-time Marist College graduate with a Masters in Business Administration and holds a Diversity & Inclusion Certificate from Cornell's School of Industrial and Labor Relations.

He resides in Dutchess County with his wife, Amber and their two daughters Amaliah and Mecca.

Schedule

8:45 am - 9:15 am Registration, Welcome & Continental Breakfast

9:30 am - 10:30 am Legacy Giving: Not Just Gifts in the Future!
The time has come to rethink how important it is to include planned giving, also known as legacy giving, in your everyday fundraising plans. During this session, two pieces of new data will be introduced: the $2.12 Billion coming to nonprofits in the tri-county area identified in a recently updated transfer of wealth (TOW) study and the 20% increase of gifts to donor-advised funds (DAFs). Join Elizabeth Rowley, CFRE, President and CEO of the Community Foundations of Orange and Sullivan and Serena Marrero, Director of Planned Giving at Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley to learn and discuss best practices and practical steps for attracting these frequently untapped resources for your organization.

10:45 am - 11:45 pm Major Gifts: Trends, Insights, and a Look Ahead
Join Kevin Findlan and Leigh Taublib-Kiriat of CCS Fundraising to analyze the current philanthropic landscape and discuss what the next year might bring for the sector regarding major gifts. This session will cover the data, insights, and trends featured in CCS’s Snapshot of the Philanthropic Landscape report, which has compiled and analyzed essential industry research for the past 11 years. An interactive conversation about current challenges and best practices to apply in times of uncertainty will follow the landscape presentation. Armed with an understanding of major fundraising trends and insight into the challenges and opportunities their peers are facing, participants will leave this session feeling energized and well-equipped to navigate any headwinds the next year might bring.
