Greetings!
I am honored to return this year as the Board President of AFP Indian River. For newer members, I was the founding Board President in 2006 and 2007. Twenty years is a long time, so I hope I have learned a great deal that will guide and inform me in this position.
What I know for sure is that so much has changed in both the nonprofit sector and the fundraising profession. I’ve been thinking a lot about what this means for our chapter now and over the next few years. Questions that have emerged …
- How does the Board ensure AFP Indian River remains relevant to its members as the fundraising landscape evolves?
- Are we reaching the fundraising professionals who need us most, or are there barriers—financial, geographic, cultural—that we haven't adequately addressed?
- How can we help members feel valued and welcomed, regardless of where they are in their career journey?
- How are we celebrating philanthropy in our community and inspiring others to be philanthropic at whatever level is meaningful for them?
- What is important to us collectively as a Board, and what will each Board member commit to contributing individually?
If you have thoughts on any of the areas or questions, I’d welcome the opportunity to grab coffee. Email kbartlett@carter.global or text 772-538-0659.
Regards,
