The AFP International Conference on Fundraising (AFP ICON)
The AFP International Conference on Fundraising is held each spring and brings together more than 3,500 fundraising professionals to discuss, teach, and learn about key trends and issues in fundraising and philanthropy.
AFP CFRE Refresher Course
The AFP CFRE Refresher Course takes a new approach, asking participants to apply fundraising theory, skills, and techniques across the field's six knowledge domains, based on three or more years of professional fundraising experience. This course combines a high-level review, self-exploration of knowledge, and peer exchange of best practices – all facilitated by a knowledgeable fundraising practitioner. It is not presented in a lecture format.
Please note: The AFP CFRE Refresher Course is designed to be a “refresher,” not an in-depth review of the domains. It is designed both to refresh each participant's existing knowledge and to help them identify knowledge gaps. Participants do this by working through abbreviated case studies referred to as “caselets.” Participation in the course may assist individuals in learning or reviewing concepts covered on the CFRE exam, but it is not a preparatory course for the CFRE exam.
The AFP CFRE Refresher course is offered each year as a pre-conference workshop at AFP ICON. It’s also offered by AFP chapters that use AFP’s course-hosting program.

AFP Fundamentals of Fundraising Course
The AFP Fundamentals of Fundraising course is an introductory 2-day program that provides a comprehensive overview of fundraising principles. The course content covers the roles and responsibilities of fundraisers, with emphasis on responsibilities you are likely to encounter at the beginning of your career.
This intensive program will provide an overview of skills, techniques, and program components for individuals with up to 4 years of fundraising experience. Full participation in the AFP Fundamentals of Fundraising Course is applicable for 16.0 points of CFRE Credit in Category 1.B – Education of the CFRE International application for initial certification and/or recertification.
The AFP Fundamentals of Fundraising course is available as both a classroom learning program and an e-course. Classroom learning opportunities include the pre-conference workshop offered each year at AFP ICON and workshops offered by AFP chapters that leverage AFP’s course-hosting program.
