AFP Scholarship Opportunities

AFP Indian River is committed to supporting fundraising professionals in all areas of professional development. Our Scholarship Committee accepts and reviews scholarship applications from fund development professionals seeking assistance with annual AFP membership fees, attending the AFP International annual conference and other professional development opportunities such as the annual Florida Planet Philanthropy conference.

Chapter Membership Opportunities Offered:

Apply for the 2026 Planet Philanthropy Scholarships 

The AFP Indian River Chapter is pleased to offer scholarships to three chapter members to Planet Philanthropy 2026, taking place in Port Charlotte, FL, from June 22–24, 2026. Conference Info HERE. This scholarship offers a valuable opportunity to participate in a dynamic three-day conference right here in Florida, featuring a broad range of topics for professionals at all levels. We encourage all eligible members to apply and take advantage of this exciting opportunity.

Eligibility Requirements:
      ● AFP Indian River member in good standing
      ● First time attending Planet Philanthropy
      ● Preference will be given to members who:
            o Are not AFPIR Board Members
            o Have less than three years of fundraising experience. However, all eligible members are encouraged to apply.

Scholarship Details:
      ● Conference Registration: The scholarship will cover the cost of the conference registration.
      ● Personal Expenses: Scholarship recipients are responsible for travel, hotel, and meals
      (not covered by conference registration). A stipend up to $500 will be provided to offset these expenses. Scholarship recipients will be            reimbursed upon presentation of appropriate receipts.

Recipient Expectations
The scholarship recipient agrees to:
      1. Volunteer at the Planet Philanthropy 2026 conference.
      2. Serve on an AFPIR National Philanthropy Day committee.
      3. Submit a one-page summary to the AFPIR Membership Committee Chair of their conference experience and key takeaways within 30          days after the conference.

CHAMBERLAIN SCHOLARSHIP (1)

The Chamberlain Scholarship program honors Ralph E. Chamberlain, CFRE. Mr. Chamberlain had a long and distinguished career of service to the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), beginning in the 1960s when the organization was formed as the National Society of Fund Raisers (NSFR), through the late 1970s when the name was changed to the National Society of Fund Raising Executives (NSFRE), and until his death in 1999.

AFP Indian River welcomes any active chapter member who has not attended an AFP or NSFRE International Conference to apply for the Chamberlain Scholarship. With support from the AFP Foundation, every AFP chapter can offer one Chamberlain Scholarship, which covers the recipient’s conference registration, minus a $10 processing fee, to the AFP ICON.

The 2026 International Conference on Fundraising (ICON), will be held in San Diego, California, from April 26-28. 


Eligibility Requirements:
● Must be an AFP Indian River member in good standing.
● Must not have attended ICON before.
● Preference will be given to members who:
o Are not on the AFPIR Board.
o Have fewer than three years of fundraising experience. However, all eligible members are encouraged to apply.

Scholarship Details:
Conference Registration: The scholarship will cover the cost of conference registration.
Personal Expenses: The recipient will need to register online with a special discount code from AFP Global. They are also responsible for travel, lodging, and meals. To help offset these expenses, AFP Indian River will reimburse up to $1,500 upon receiving valid receipts.


Recipient Expectations:
The scholarship recipient agrees to:
1. Complete an online evaluation form from AFP Global about their experience.
2. Volunteer at the AFP Indian River 2026 National Philanthropy Day event.
3. Submit a one-page summary to the AFPIR Membership Committee Chair of their conference experience and key takeaways within 30 days after the conference.
