2021 March - Newsletter

March 2021

Dear Colleagues,

Thank you for all you’ve done to make our communities stronger over the course of this tough year. As your reward, please consider setting aside the afternoons of June 7 and 8 for the always memorable, Maritime Fundraising Conference (MFC). Our theme, “The New Way Forward”, will help you and your team build and sharpen your skills as we make our way into the future of fundraising.

We are grateful for Global Philanthropic’s return as our Presenting Sponsors. Thank you. And many thanks to our tireless volunteers, and a host of generous sponsors, speakers, and partners for supporting of our sector.

What can you look forward to at MFC 2021?

  • Learning and networking, sprinkled with an abundance of fun throughout.
  • Fraser Green as our Keynote Speaker!
  • Many other well-known local and national speakers, too!
  • Two education tracks to choose from.
  • Most sessions will be recorded and shared.
  • Two half-days will ensure that we keep focused and fresh.
  • The Exhibitor Solutions Showcase with sponsor reps on hand to help you find solutions for your development needs.
  • Early Bird rates are in effect now.

At 11:00am on Day 2, we’ll start with our AGM, followed by our 2nd Annual Industry Awards. Nominations open soon, so now is the time to consider your 2021 nominee(s) in these categories:

  • Fundraising Innovation
  • Partner of the Year
  • Above and Beyond
  • Professional Fundraiser of the Year
  • Rising Star

In need of financial assistance? CanadaHelps has returned as our Education Sponsor to the cover registration fee for selected applicants. To apply, look for a notification coming soon. And there will also be other bursary opportunities geared toward our BIPOC communities, as well as small shops.

If you feel the same as me, you just can’t wait to see our fundraising colleagues again! Until then, take good care.

Yours in philanthropy,

Daphne Carter

AFP Nova Scotia Chapter named a 2021 Ten Star Gold Award Recipient

Every year, AFP, the largest association of professional fundraisers in the world, honours chapters for achieving goals that align with key objectives in its long-range strategic plan. Chapters receive the Ten Star Award for performing specific activities designed to increase professionalism within fundraising and public awareness of the importance of philanthropy. Just one-third of all AFP chapters are named Ten Star Chapters, so the AFP Nova Scotia Chapter is one of a select group of chapters to earn this honour.

Count Yourself In!
