Job Description:

The Rescue Mission is seeking a fulltime Digital Communications & Events Specialist to join our 
Development team here in Syracuse, NY! The Digital Communications and Events Specialist role is 
responsible for the ongoing management and growth of the Rescue Mission Alliance’s digital/social 
media presence in alignment with business strategies and direction. The Digital Communications and Events Specialist is also responsible for assisting in the planning, logistics and execution of several Rescue Mission events. During the holiday season, the Digital Communications and Events Specialist will also assist the volunteer services department in answering phones and scheduling volunteers.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop marketing and communications plans that leverage 
the web and social media space.
• Develop, conceptualize, edit, and publish high-quality communications and content, including, but not 
limited to: website, advertisements, videos, photos, social media posts, feature stories, etc.
• Maintain and update Rescue Mission Alliance websites (utilizing Wordpress)
• Create, manage and grow digital business presence across social media channels, including, but not 
limited to: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, and other new and emerging social 
platforms.
• Create and deploy regular Rescue Mission emails and digital newsletters; update email contact lists 
from various sources on a regular basis.
• Respond to donor, customer and community questions and comments submitted via web contact form, 
email, Facebook Messenger, Twitter and Instagram Direct Messages.
• Assist in the development of marketing and/or communications strategy by identifying 
communications needs based on trends and relevant research. Create, edit, schedule and manage paid 
and boosted ad placements across social media and web channels.
• Leverage digital analytics to provide progress reports and mine insights while continually finding ways 
to improve on those metrics through testing and new initiatives.
• Manage a positive business presence and reviews across web channels, including, but not limited to 
Google Business and Facebook.
• Utilize DonorPerfect, Flodesk, Classy, Raisin, GiveButter, Adobe Suite, Canva, Monday, Smartsheet, 
Trello and other platforms to develop, edit, deploy, and manage digital content, web-based donation 
pages, project management and supporter emails.
• Help plan and manage event logistics for Rescue Mission events. This includes solicitation of 
donations and items for raffles. Attend all events and take photos, videos, and conduct interviews for 
social media and print content for the Rescue Mission.
• During holiday season, assist the volunteer services department in the scheduling of volunteers, 
coordination of meal delivery, and donations/distribution of Christmas gifts.
• Provide technical guidance to other team members as needed.
• Regular and predictable in-person attendance is an essential requirement of the job, including outside 
of normal business hours for events, as needed.
• Promote a safety-first attitude by setting a positive example and ensuring all employees are following 
safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
• BA or BS degree with focus on communication, advertising, marketing or related field (OR) 3+ years 
equivalent experience in digital communications.
• Experience with web and social media platforms, including, but not limited to Wordpress, Facebook, 
Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Linkedin, and Tiktok.
• Experience with leveraging social media management and analytics tools.
• Experience writing, editing and crafting content for the social and print media space.
• Valid NYS driver’s license

Qualifications:


BA or BS degree with focus on communication, advertising, marketing or related field (OR) 3+ years
