Job Description:

The Everson Museum of Art seeks a full-time Learning & Engagement Coordinator to provide programmatic and administrative support for the Museum’s growing educational and public programs. The Learning & Engagement Coordinator reports to the Director of Learning & Engagement and works with Museum staff, interns, volunteer docents, and contracted artists and teachers to support program initiatives such as outreach, youth and adult classes, camps and workshops, and a wide variety of community  programs.

The ideal candidate will embrace and advance the Museums commitment to DEAI as it relates to our larger constituent base, as well as within our internal culture.

37.5 hours weekly/non-exempt

Must be available some nights and weekends, based on program schedule.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Coordinates on-site and virtual tours for school groups and community organizations, interfacing directly with local K-12 schools.

· Coordinates and executes community-wide outreach initiatives, working with other local non-profits, community centers, and public agencies.

· Serves as the Everson point of contact for the docent organization, which includes recruitment, training, and scheduling, as well as the development of teaching and training materials.

· Plans school break camps, educational classes and workshops, special community days, and public programs related to special exhibitions and collections.

· Occasional teaching of youth and adult classes and leading of tours.

· Conducts on-going research into innovative, 21st century best practices for K-12 and adult museum education.

· Organizes and facilitates Everson Teen Arts Council program, working collaboratively with Museum staff.

· Assist in the creation of interpretive materials in conjunction with exhibitions, including educator resource materials, iPad presentations, family guides, gallery guides, and audio tours.

· Manages registrations and all participant communications for educational classes and workshop, working in the Museum database, Altru.

· Oversees intern program, including recruitment initiatives.

· Oversees program calendar.

· Responds to community inquiries.

· Keeps educator and consultant contact databases current.

· Manages hiring logistics and conducts background checks for K-12 educators in coordination with Human Resources.

· Oversees maintenance, inventory, and organization of educational materials for classes, programs, and equipment in the Danial Family Education Center.

· Incorporates inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility principles into day-to-day responsibilities.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent training and experience in art education, museum studies, fine arts, or relate field required.

· Demonstrated experience with public programs.

· Experience working with K-12 students.

· Knowledge of museums and/or other non-profit organizations, structures and processes.

· Knowledge of databases and/or registrations systems, or willingness and ability to learn. Specific knowledge of Altru or Raisers\’s Edge products a plus!

· Ability to work a schedule that supports the Learning & Engagement Department, including some flexible and variable hours, such as weekends and evenings.

· Strong team player and interpersonal skills.

· Enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced environment.

· Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively within and beyond the institution.

· Excellent organizational skills, follow-through, and attention to detail, including ability to work on multiple programs and deadlines simultaneously.

· Strong oral and written communication skills.
