POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Program Manager will provide support that guides the grant distribution process and execution of programs through the review of proposals, interacting with prospective applicants and electronic record keeping. This position will play a meaningful role in supporting community groups working in our main areas of community concern and providing funding to address key community needs.
 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
•    Manage Participatory Budgeting (PB) in Cortland County, including coordinating with local partners, supporting project planning and implementation, organizing materials and events, documenting outcomes, and identifying key themes and community priorities.
•    Coordinate Cortland County Launch Advisory Group, including organizing biannual or as-needed meetings and facilitating feedback from members on the applicant reviews and recommendations.
•    Support the Community Grantmaking process by assisting applicants, evaluating proposals, conducting due diligence, and preparing written and oral recommendations for staff, board, donors, and committees. Monitor funded projects and maintain accurate records in the grants database.
•    Support nonprofit capacity building initiatives by researching community needs and collaborating with the Community Investment team to develop and implement effective programs.
•    Assist the Community Investment team with implementing various community initiatives, including grant portal and database administration 
•    Conduct research on issues or concerns of importance to the Community Foundation
•    Participate in activities of the philanthropic field such as conferences and meetings to enhance overall operations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•    Deep interest in and commitment to the Central New York area, its people and their concerns
•    Connection to the needs, opportunities, and strengths of Cortland County residents and nonprofit organizations
•    Minimum of 3 years of related work experience, with a strong preference for direct service experience in nonprofit, government or social services sectors 
•    Commitment to be guided in all work by the vision of diversity, equity and inclusion that has been established by our staff and board.
•    Familiarity with the Central New York area, its opportunities and challenges
•    Relevant work experience a plus
•    Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member
•    Ability to organize and prioritize work and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
•    Ability to travel within the immediate five-county service area of Central New York
