Title: Fund Development Specialist
Reports to: Executive Management
Based at: Regina Saskatchewan / Office / Remote
Employment: Fulltime, Permanent (3-6 month probationary period)
Pay Range: $60,000 - $70,000
Start Date: Immediately
Description:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Fund Development Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will excel in networking and building relationships, have a passion for working for organizations that benefit individual lives and the community, and be passionate about SCP’s mission. The Fund Development Specialist will be responsible for raising awareness of and support for SCP. Their duties will include researching grants, sponsorships, corporate giving and other development opportunities, stewardship and recognition, capital campaigns, prospect research, planned giving, special events, and direct mail fund development opportunities. They are expected to comply with industry standards and best practices while adhering to all SCP policies in the completion of the duties and responsibilities of their position.
This is a new position to the organization. It provides the incumbent with the opportunity to build a fund development program from the ground up. This is an excellent opportunity for junior fund developers to gain valuable experience in the field.
Qualifications (Education & Experience):
● Related post-secondary education
● Extensive paid or volunteer experience
● Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector clearance
● Non-profit experience
● Training through a professional or post-secondary school is an asset
● Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) certification is an asset
Requirements (Skills & Competencies):
● Strong verbal and written communication skills
● Strong interpersonal and people skills
● Excellent organizational and project management abilities
● Ability to manage time and meet deadlines as well as ability to work under pressure
● Ability to motivate, persuade, and inspire people
● Sensitive to cultural differences
● Knowledgeable about a wide variety of fundraising techniques
● Knowledgeable about relevant local, provincial, and federal legislation and regulations (such as those associated with the Canada Revenue Agency and/or the Donor Bill of Rights)
● Proficiency in
○ Fundraising software and databases
○ Compiling and interpreting statistical and financial information
○ Grant writing and proposal development
○ Presenting financial reports
○ Producing gift proposal
Duties & Responsibilities (Outcomes to be monitored quarterly)
● Conduct research to determine what motivates involvement and investment
● Implement and manage fund development strategies
● Organize and implement special events and fundraising campaigns
● Raise money for programs, services, operating budgets and capital needs
● Build endowment funds to secure long-range and sustainable sources of funding
● Build and maintain donor and prospect databases
● Build and maintain positive relationships with donors and supporters
● Develop strategies to encourage new donations and support
● Recruit, orient and acknowledge volunteers
● Writing proposals, case for support, and grant applications
● Make presentations to solicit donations/sponsorship from
○ Service Organizations
○ Corporations
○ Foundations
○ Community groups
○ Individuals
● Handle public relations activities including, but not limited to:
○ Write news releases, newsletters and feature stories
○ Participate in radio and television interviews
● Ensure fund development compliance with regulatory requirements and SCP policies
● Prepare presentations and reports for donors on the impact of their gifts
● Analyze results and recommend improvements for future fund development activities
