Love is at the core of our profession. It is at the core of the word “philanthropy.”
As 2018 AFP South Sound chapter president, I’ve felt the love and support of my fellow board members, colleagues and the many chapter members with whom I’ve had a chance to interact. And I hope that as members, you felt it in return by connecting with your colleagues, attending the educational events and being of service to others.
The columnist David Brooks once said that there is no secret to what makes a great learning environment. We learn best from the teachers who love us and whom we love in return.
And so it is with AFPSS. I encourage you to look at your investment in our chapter as a path toward personal AND professional growth.
Thanks for all that you have given me as chapter president in 2018. We have a great crop of leaders ready to serve the organization in 2019 under the helm of incoming President Kate Albert-Ward. I know you will give her the same level of support and love that you’ve shown me.
